The District of West Vancouver
The District of West Vancouver is a member municipality of Metro Vancouver, the governing body of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. One of the three municipalities that make up the North Shore, it operates underneath a Council/Manager system.
The District of West Vancouver is committed to the ongoing goal of including as many citizens as possible within their operating processes, such as community consultations, Council meetings, and more.
Leadership sometimes needs specific outside skill sets to undertake organizational review work. Sometimes things arise, but it is unclear what the root cause or underlying issues are that prevent their large, complex organization from delivering services more effectively.
The workplace and organizational review work which Light Trail performed with the District of West Vancouver included engaging with a wide variety of staff and leadership, exploring the dynamics of the environment and understanding what actions or change was required to more effectively move things forward.
During our time consulting with the District of West Vancouver, we had many individual conversations, team meetings and group workshops in order to better appreciate the situation, establish a common understanding across the departments and formulate a plan of action to address the underlying issues.
This workplace and organizational review work included engaging with a wide variety of staff and leadership, exploring the dynamics of the environment and understanding what actions or change was required to more effectively move things forward. Through interviews, assessments and analysis, Light Trail provided actionable recommendations to support operational efficiencies.
Organizational and Team Effectiveness
Light Trail completed a series of evaluations and partnered with the District’s HR team to support a number of teams in effective working relationships through clarifying roles and responsibilities, establishing clear communication channels and providing one on one coaching to improve both individual and team effectiveness.
